AERIAL LIFTS

Aerial lifts include cherry pickers, extensible boom platforms, aerial ladders, articulating boom platforms, vertical towers, and any combinations of the above.

Only authorized and trained persons will operate aerial lifts.

Lift controls will be tested each day before use.

Safety harness will be worn when elevated in the aerial lift. Lanyards will be attached to the boom or basket. Employees will not belt off to adjacent poles, structures, or equipment while working from an aerial lift.

Employees will always stand firmly on the floor of the basket, and will not sit or climb on the edge of the basket. Planks, ladders, or other devices will not be used for work position or additional working height.

Brakes will be set and outriggers will be used. The aerial lift truck will not be moved with the boom elevated and employees in the basket, unless the equipment is specifically designed for such.
